The benches of Morena, Ecologist Green, PT, and Citizen Movement rejected the transparency of the list of action polygons in Mexico City, an instrument of construction questioned by neighborhood leaders for allegedly allowing works with levels above those permitted.
The president of the Planning Commission for Development of the Congress of Mexico City, Olivia Garza, presented a point of agreement requesting Seduvi to disclose current projects under this modality, their location, the type of development, and their status.
"The projects developed in the action polygons have a direct impact on the daily lives of citizens, affecting aspects such as access to public services, mobility, air quality, among others; it is vital for neighbors to know the details of these projects to effectively exercise their rights," mentioned Olivia Garza.
However, when the Board of Directors voted to approve the point of agreement, the Morena bloc was the main political force that voted against it, while the other parliamentary groups remained indifferent and did not vote.
"This is an example of the transparency promoted by the government of Clara Brugada and Morena, who criticize real estate developments so much but do not want to disclose the polygons they have authorized; they should explain why they are so protective of that data," she emphasized.
Members of National Action were the only legislators who spoke in favor of the capital government delivering a detailed report on these urban development instruments, but due to Morena's majority, the capital congress rejected the proposal.
"The lack of a clear and accessible registry of action polygons hinders citizen participation and monitoring of projects; this deficiency not only limits the citizens' ability to actively participate in decision-making processes," expressed Olivia Garza.
The legislator added that the requested information would serve to analyze the effectiveness of these polygons; however, she assured that she would seek to access that data through other means such as transparency requests.
